"I love my name" - Reece

Reece's Auntie Emily made him a sweet sign for one of my baby showers. I've been pretty obsessed with it and will leave it up FOREVER! Yes, forever! After all, his brother's and sisters will be "baby j's" as well, so it will work!

Anyway, Reece wanted to say thanks to Emily for his sign. Not only does it fit my style, the decor in his room, and simply look amazing...but it's black and white just like the bulls-eye! He's started to smile and coo at it every time I lay him down on the bed to dress him. Which also means getting him dressed is FUN! Score!

And just so you know, the last three pictures are in fact DIFFERENT. They may look the same, but I couldn't pick a favorite so there!

Why Reece Urban?

"Reece \re(e)-ce\ as a boy's name (also used as girl's name Reese), is pronounced reece.  Meaning of Reece is "enthusiasm". "

We chose Reece at 38 weeks because we knew if Baby J were indeed a boy, he would be full of enthusiasm and energy. He was quite the wiggle worm my entire pregnancy. He danced and kept a steady rhythm each day in Kinderland and kept me up many nights kickin' and squirmin'. In fact, I was tempted to go to the hospital on his due date before my water broke because he was soooo active I thought he was strangling himself with his umbilical cord. He was ready to enter this world and has been all smiles ever since.

We chose Urban when Reece was 2 minutes old. We debated over using Brent's middle name of Alan and my maiden name of Urban the entire pregnancy. We decided if I were a week late and induced on the 19th, we would use Urban for a boy middle name since my grandfather L.F. "Papa" Urban's birthday was March 19. If Baby J came any other day, we'd use Alan. Well, Brent knew that deep down in my heart I really wanted to use Urban. When the nurse asked his name, Brent said "Reece Urban Jacobson." I cried...go figure!

I know you are all thinking "And what would the girl Baby J be called?" Well, you'll just have to wait and find out when that day comes :)

Tummy Time

We have one strong cookie on our hands! Reece came into the world holding his head up. Seriously! Of course he would crash into our collar bones every time he lifted his head, but he had some serious hang time. Now, his little neck is pretty strong and he holds it up quite a while in many activities. Here he is lifting and turning his head during tummy time and chillin' on Dad's lap. (Oh the things we gawk over these days ;)

target practice

You can't tell, but Reece is staring at a bulls-eye on the bottom of the flower. He is in L-O-V-E with this thing! He also has a cloth cube that has a huge bulls-eye design on it and he stares at it for super long amounts of time each day. I think he's got his father's hunting genes!! Anyway, he loves to stretch out and play under this cool play gym from his Great Aunt Patsy and Uncle Roland while he's laying on his amazing quilt from Nana (Brent's mom). We get about 30 minutes of play time a day like this, and boy is it fun to watch him swat, coo, and smile at those black and white lines!! It's safe to say at five weeks his favorite thing to do have "target practice!"

Cutest little bear cub around! ***and cutest spare crib sheet around as well!***

Reece meets his peeps

So one of these days I'll sit and write up Reece's birth story. Here's the brief version: 9:45pm on 3-12-13 (baby's due date) my water broke. 10:30pm checked into hospital. Labored all evening and got drugs at 7:00am on 3-13-13. I was wide awake in with restless leg syndrome, and fought my nagging upper respiratory cough until 11:45am when I started pushing. Pushed and pushed and when the doc finally untangled baby from HIS umbilical cord at 1:16pm, Brent shouted: "It's Reece!" We cried and smiled for the next hour or so just soaking up all of the love God had poured down on us. We wanted to stay in that moment forever. Finally we let the others in ;) Reece met his family. He loves you all already.
