metapneumovirus
(This also happened in October) After returning from Aunt Hallie and Uncle Cody's fun wedding weekend, Reece's little battle with bronchitis turned to a huge ugly hospital stay. We are learning that we can't push our little guy when he's under the weather because he goes from bad to worse quick! We thought he was bouncing back from a previous bronchial infection, but didn't realize another, much worse, virus had hopped on for the ride. Meet Metapneumovirus. An RSV like infection that makes infants have extreme trouble breathing. I knew something was really wrong when I found him sleeping on his back one night. This kid never sleeps on his back, ever. Then the wheezing worsened and if I didn't know any better, I'd think he had the black lung. Poor baby could not breath. After three days of going to the doctor with no improvement and his oxygen decreasing, we checked into the children's hospital in downtown SA. We got the best care and are extremely thankful for modern day medicine and advanced treatments. While it was not fun and super scary, Reece was outta there in no time. We were so proud of how brave and strong he was. Way too many cords for one little body. Praise God for his healing hands.
