I mean, just wow. We have an 8 1/2 month old baby and I've yet to say one word about him. On this blog, that is. The last post was two months before the baby was even born. I've never had the thought "Oh quit blogging" but when I spend so many hours on the computer for photography, I rarely have any desire to spend more time doing anything else that makes my eyes twitch. Enough is enough though. I must continue! Rhett, I am so very sorry. You'll never remember how much you are loved right now, but you are. Trust me. This blog does not show it at all, but you're the other apple in our eyes. Welcome to the world.
It's a boy! Rhett Alan Jacobson was born December 6, 2014. You were 8lb 6oz and 21.5 inches long at birth. 13lb 15oz and 24 3/4inches at 2 months. 17lb 5oz 26 1/4in at 4 months, and 19lbs and 27inches at 6 months. You rolled over at three months, crawled at five and half months, and stood straight up all by yourself two days ago. We are pretty sure you'll be walking before the clock strikes nine months! Rumor has it you look like your Momma. Strawberry blonde hair and all. Big heads, big eyes, big hands and feet. Just like Momma! You wanted nothing to do with solid food until about six weeks ago. Now you devour everything in sight. You will eat pureed foods if you have to, but you prefer to shovel all your food on your own as long as it's cut nice and small for you to pinch. You still refuse to sleep through the night, but we're managing somehow. You nurse 4 times during the day and at least once at night. We need Daddy at home more to help kick this habit at night. Mom is way too tired to fight it, and that's okay. You won't be this small forever.
You adore your big brother. You never smile bigger than when Reece walks in the room. He loves you too and has nicknamed you Rhetter. He's learning to share with you. He's almost 2 1/2 so sharing doesn't come easy, but he's getting there. You love to be right by his side, so you play with trains, barn animals, the toy kitchen, construction trucks and anything non baby. Mom tries to get some age appropriate games and activities in with you when she can. You are the happiest baby we've ever been around. You rarely fuss unless you are super hungry to tired. You're starting to nap like a champ during the day. Speaking of Champ, you love that dog. Dog may be your first word. Mom's placed her bet on that one.
I was trying to remember life before you today. Not because life is too hard right now, but because it feels like you've been here forever. Eight months is not a very long time. How is it that you're learning to feed yourself, almost walking, and crawl away as fast as you can when I tell you to get away from the water heater? You are one smart cookie. You may not get as many books read to you, or songs sung at bedtime, but you can bet that your Momma and Daddy's hearts pound just as fast and fierce for you as they did before the day you came into this world. Thanks for making our family perfect. We love you, Baby Boy Rhett, and never want to remember a day without you.
