Reece's Room

Well after a whole year of knowing we needed to transform our guest bedroom/office into a baby room, the job is done!

I posted a few photos on FB after we painted and got a little done back in December, but that was still before we knew if Baby J were a boy or a girl. Well, now we know who Baby J is and I was able to add some finishing touches.

With such a small house (972 square feet to be exact!) we have to get super creative around here. We also have over 20 windows in this place! I guess back in 1920 they didn't have AC and needed lots of fresh air in the house. Reece has three windows in his room and three doors! We wanted to keep the queen bed for when we have guests, so we were forced to keep it plain and simple.

I was pretty stumped on how to work in a book case because I had run out of wall space and I wanted it low so when Reece is older he can grab his own books. I had a couple old crates I wanted to use, but hadn't quite figured it out. I also wanted something to go over his crib, but needed it to be super secure so nothing would fall on him. I also wanted it to be some sort of sign with a message of some kind on it.

Well, I made a visit to my trusty old Max's Haus today and it all came together. I found three old chalkboard pieces that matched the green perfectly. I knew exactly what I wanted to write. It's the chorus out of Jeremy Riddle's song, Fall Afresh. We sing it in worship often and I love it. I always thought it'd be fitting to put over a bed. You can listen to the song here.

Once I solved that problem, I made myself figure out the book shelf situation. I didn't realize I had just enough space under the double window, behind the rocker. I'm not sure exactly how functional it's going to be long term, but I think it turned out great!!! I can also keep more books that we get in the little cradle. I had them there before, but filled it up with the MANY handmade blankets Reece received.

So here it is! I'm so happy with how it's turned out. It makes me so happy! If only my husband would agree to paint all of the rooms white. ;)
